Edo State House of Assembly has inaugurated it new Principal Officers’ Council (POC) following the change of its leadership last week.

This was on the (21/8/2017) announced by the speaker Rt. Hon Adjoto Kabiru on the floor of the house.

Below are the principal officers and their new offices: Hon Sunday Aghedo (Deputy Leader), Hon Osaigbovo Iyoha (Chief Whip), and Hon. Silvanus Eruaga Hon Sunday Osazemwengie (Also a co-opted member).

Similarly, the house today inaugurated its standing committees which were dissolved last week, sequel to the impeachment of the former speaker.

Here is the break-down of the committees and their chairmen: selections (Rt. Hon Victor Edoror), Energy and Natural Resources (Hon Christopher Okaeben), Infrastructure and Development (Hon Festus Gbelokoto), Rules, Business and Government House (Hon Roland Asoro).

Others are Oil Gas and Solid Minerals (Hon Okunbor Osayanba), Appropriation (Hon Damian Lawani), Women Affairs (Hon Justin Okoroboh), Wealth Creation (Hon Kingsly Ugabi), Youth Special Duties (Hon Crosby Eribo), Environment (Hon Sunday Osazemwinde), Hon Asein Victor), while the rest are Local Government and Community Affairs (Hon Agbaje Emmanuel), Agriculture and Natural Resources (Hon Monday Ehighalua), Education (Hon Bright Osayande), Public Accounts (Hon Iyoha Osaigbovo), Security (Hon Ezehi Igbas), Fiscal Planning and Transport (Hon Silvanus Eruaga) and lastly Judiciary (Hon Patrick Iluobe).

Also today, the House lifted the suspension on the former speaker, Hon Justin Okonoboh and Hon Foly Ogedengbe while Hon Elizabeth Ativie and Hon Ezehi Igbas remain Suspended.

This was however after the presentation of the report of the ad-hoc committee mandated to investigate the affected lawmakers.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the committee and deputy speaker, Hon Victor Edoror explained that the report has two findings and one recommendation that the suspension on the Justin Okonoboh and Hon Foly Ogedengbe be lifted because they had co-operated with the committee while that of Hon Elizabeth Ativie and Hon Ezehi continues.
